Biography
- BEng student in the Internet of Things Engineering at the University of Wuhan Technology, 2016-2020
- MSc student in Computer Science at the 91影视破解版, 2020-2021
- PhD student in Biomedical Engineering at the 91影视破解版, 2021-Current
In the final year of his BEng in Internet of Things Engineering, Wanzi had a scholarship for an exchange program between the UK and China. This allowed him to come to the UK and apply for an MSc student in the UK. During his MSc in Computer Science, he completed a project about Brain Connectivity in Depression, where he applied his computer science specialties to the medical domain. After that, he is currently a second-year PhD student at the 91影视破解版. In addition, he won the scholarship from the China Scholarship Council.
Research Project
Artificial Intelligence Toolbox for Tracking Eye Movement in Neurodegenerative Disorders via Smartphone
- Developed a framework for analysing ophthalmological dynamics from smartphone-acquired videos.
- Applied image processing and deep learning techniques aiming for detecting oculomotor abnormalities such as saccades and nystagmus.
- Investigated the feasibility of early detection of neurodegenerative diseases (e.g., Parkinson鈥檚 disease, Long COVID) using non-invasive, low-cost approaches.
- Explored integration of the algorithm with smartphone applications to enable remote monitoring and home-based rehabilitation.
Pupillary Light Reflex in Five Common Ophthalmological Diseases
- Conducted a comprehensive investigation of automated pupillometry across glaucoma, diabetic retinopathy, refractive error, macular degeneration, and cataracts.
- Identified significant pupillary light reflex (PLR) variables as potential disease biomarkers, including relative afferent pupillary defect (RAPD) for glaucoma and focal stimulation asymmetry for diabetic retinopathy.
- Developed a biomedical engineering framework specifying hardware and software requirements for next-generation automated pupillometers, emphasising focal and full-field stimulation, binocular recording, alternating wavelength delivery, and real-time analysis.
- Proposed the integration of pupillometry with fundus imaging to support multimodal diagnostic innovation.
