Welcome to our network
The Health Spotlight ECR network was founded in 2026 to bring together PhD students, postdocs, research fellows and assistant professors who are interested in interdisciplinary health research, as each of us try to learn and navigate our research journeys.
One of the challenges with being an interdisciplinary researcher is knowing where to start. Many of us have struggled to find others to collaborate with, understand the funding landscape and identify areas where interdisciplinary research in health would be recognised as essential and commended.
The network aims to support early career researchers who are interested in interdisciplinary health by providing opportunities to connect with each other, share our expertise and build upon our foundational knowledge to provide us with the necessary background to engage in interdisciplinary health research.
If you are a PhD student, a post-doc, a research fellow, or an assistant professor who is interested in interdisciplinary health research, regardless of disciplinary background, you are more than welcome to join this inclusive and warm community.
Why join this network ?
This community was founded based on a need to connect with others who share the same vision for interdisciplinary health research.
Many of the opportunities that are available for early career researchers require individuals to be at the right place at the right time. This is not conducive and marginalises those who do not have access to a network.
Navigating application processes, knowing how to present research to an interdisciplinary audience and formulating research ideas all require skills to be learned and nurtured in a warm and positive environment.
My aim is to provide such a space within this network. The Health Spotlight ECR events are located within the events tab. Events that are happening across campus and are eligible for ECRs to attend will be advertised on the forums where members are also free to post questions and start discussions related to interdisciplinary health.
