Daniel AkrofiEmail: Daniel.a.Akrofi@warwick.ac.uk My research examines public consumer discourse about products within online communities. Most recently, I have used large-scale text analysis to investigate what consumers speculate about, how these conversations develop, and how they relate to sales and post-release evaluations. This work contributes to understanding pre-release buzz by examining the substance of speculation alongside established measures such as discussion volume and sentiment, helping firms interpret conversations around product launches. My broader interests include digital word of mouth, online user communities, entertainment marketing, and the use of natural language processing to understand consumer behaviour. WBS page: |

Sedigheh MonavariEmail: Sedigheh.Monavari@warwick.ac.uk Sedigheh Monavari is a PhD candidate in Quantitative Marketing at Warwick Business School. Her research combines causal econometrics with computational methods to study how digital platform design shapes consumer behavior and welfare. Her substantive work examines promotion design in commercial markets and platform design in digital health. Her methodological work develops approaches for using large language models as surrogates for human survey respondents, integrating synthetic and observed data for valid inference when primary data are scarce.

Mohammad TavakoliEmail: Mohammad-hosein.Tavakoli@warwick.ac.uk My research combines computational text analysis and causal inference. I study how language reveals the psychology behind marketing outcomes, and how firms can draw causal conclusions from observational data. My job market paper introduces Age of Acquisition alignment and shows that it predicts customer satisfaction. I also develop a demand estimation method based on negative control outcomes. I expect to complete my PhD in September 2027 and I am on the job market for positions starting in 2027. WBS page: |
